Aussie Burger!

Along with making my Pavlova, we decided to try and make an Aussie burger or as they say in Oz "burger with the lot." It was pretty delicious. It's hard to see in the photo but the burger had sliced pineapple, beetroot, lettuce, tomato, aged white cheddar, beef pattie and topped with a fried egg! Beaut!

Pavlova!

In the past I have only made my favorite Australian dessert, Pavlova, using a mix. I finally got up the nerve and made it from scratch a few weeks ago and we all thought it was much, much better than the mix! Check out my photos!

Bryce playing ball in the yard

Look at these cute pictures of Bryce practicing catch with Jason in our backyard.

My Vegetable/herb garden

This year is the first time we decided we were going to channel the Ingalls' family and grow our own vegetables and herbs.  I am growing zucchini, broccoli, tomatoes and green beans and herbs such as parsley, cilantro, rosemary etc.  I loved this show as a kid and since planting seeds and plantings, I feel like a true homesteader.  I bake bread. I knit hats and scarves.  We line dry our clothes outside. We have a compost bin in our yard. Jason kills deer for dinner (okay, this is a joke!).  But I have to say that I don't think I will be venturing into canning food or making homemade preserves.

My Sourdough journey

The recipe I picked was really easy. Making the sourdough starter which you can see below (the picture with the bubbly dough) was easy peasy. But when the time came to add the sourdough starter to the bread mixture -the process literally took a whole day.  Mind you, it was relatively easy but just took a number of steps.
All in all, I spent 5 days making a sourdough starter. Then I spent a day baking 2 loaves of sourdough bread. Check out my pictures! It was delicious to eat.

Spring Photos

Here are some of our recent pictures. We took a road trip to Philadelphia over Mother's Day weekend -we had a great time. It truly is a lovely city to visit -totally manageable, yummy food, loads of historical monuments, wonderful museums- art and historical.
